Am fernen Horizonte
erscheint, wie ein Nebelbild,
die Stadt mit ihren Turmen,
in Abenddamm'rung gehullt.

Ein feuch'ter Windzug krauselt
die graue Wasserbahn,
mit traurigem Takte rudert
der Schiffer in meinem Kahn.
